An opera based on Brazilian indigenous mythology evokes an aesthetic and ethical discussion. In this project we had the challenge of addressing what is an inheritance and, at the same time, something contemporary. Therefore, an opportunity to explore the futuristic poetic and visual spheres, rather than the folkloric. Indigenous design starts from the geometric forms of the organic world, a powerful fractal visualization of universal lysergic compositions and structures.
In our scenography, the micro and macro scales confuse the depth of visual perception, seducing the public into the indigenous cosmogeny. The complex layered textures were programmed rhythmically with the goal of provoking an organic experience and a magical gestalt.
The stage and the costumes were designed for a plastic integration, essentialist and of great poetic force. The stage lighting projected mobile geometric shapes on the costumes and painted masks, which served to augment and transform the scenarios. Such an immersive environment, complemented by the choreography of singers and dancers, creating a synaesthetic narrative for the opera.
