Vila Olímpica do Encantado is a brand legacy project for upgrading sport equipment facilities in peripheral communities in Rio de Janeiro.

Atelier Marko Brajovic was invited to design the first of the Olympic villages located in a Zona Norte (north area of the city) as a model for future ones.

Integrating the client's briefing, the community needs, on-site dynamics and operational logistics research, we focused on creating one continuous object that could “flow” through the space, organizing itself in different functions.

Our Motion Structure, made out of steel, had to adapt to the different uses and topological geometries of the site, becoming a bench, bleachers, protection, and a playscape.

Additionally, all the community recreation areas of Vila Olímpica do Encantado were refurbished and restored: fences, bathrooms, entrances, bicycle parking, offices and a new beach volleyball filed.

We hope this project will bring real benefits to the communities that have scarce access to a more articulated and integrated sport infrastructure.
