With curatorship of Serge Toubiana, conception in Brazil by André Sturm and scenography and creative direction signed by Atelier Marko Brajovic, the exhibition "Truffaut: a passionate filmmaker" was held at MIS - Museu da Imagem e do Som - Instituição da Secretaria de Cultura do Estado de São Paulo.
Created by the French Cinematheque, the exhibition has more than 600 items such as books, magazines, personal objects, drawings and photos.
After the screening in Paris, MIS is the first institution to receive the show about the life and work of the French filmmaker, director of films such as “The 400 Blows” and “Jules and Jim”.
The exhibition at MIS brings a different cut than what was done at the French Cinematheque. Whereas in the assembly of Paris was displayed the life and work of Truffaut in a chronological order, MIS reveals Truffaut through the cinema.
The set design proposes the transformation of the MIS building into a cinema "projector" of the time, where a large tape of hundreds of meters is distributed in space, organizing the exhibition contents. The tape begins at the entrance of the exhibition and "wraps" in giant rolls that present the contents of different forms until arriving in the main room, where a movie animation comes to life.
On the second floor, two multi-sensory installations honor the sensual and loving relationships of the characters in the films, completing the exhibition and enticing the audience in François Truffaut's narrative.
